Linda Yates Hillis heard talk about the county commission voting on a Solid Waste Fee and a Wheel Tax. It didn't seem right since the citizens weren't aware this was going on.
Ms. Hillis asked the county mayor what could be done. She was told she would need a petition with voter signatures turned in to the Voting Commission. If she could gather approximately 160 verifiable registered voter signatures in 7 days, this would earn Van Buren County citizens the right to vote on the tax.
